Frank Smith, Managing Partner of Frank Smith & Co Solicitors reveals what it is he loves about his job.
I am the managing partner of Frank Smith & Co Solicitors in Cheltenham. I set the business up on 2016 to deal with a range of legal matters.
We cover all legal matters from agriculture to residential property and private clients. I have over 20 years' legal experience and started my legal career as a trainee solicitor at a large international law firm with offices in London and Birmingham. My training at a large, dynamic law firm with a strong emphasis on property work set me up for life. I am not your run of the mill lawyer and consider myself a businessman whose business is law.
I have a strong entrepreneurial streak and enjoy owning and running a thriving business. People have always fascinated me and I relish the challenge of solving tricky problems and finding workable solutions for individuals and business.
I am very approachable and easy to talk to; I'm also good at getting to the nub of matters and finding out just what it is that clients are trying to achieve when instructing us.
No two days are alike in my office: one day I could be dealing with interviewing candidates for a vacancy in the firm, and another day I could be chairing a round table meeting in our boardroom with clients and lawyers settling the terms of a complex agreement.
Hard work, sound counsel and integrity are some of my core values. I apply these to everything I do. I am a good employer and enjoy seeing my staff thrive and develop in their careers; it gives me great satisfaction to provide my staff with a clear career structure and help them to achieve their goals - it's my way of giving back.
We recently moved to larger offices in Rodney Road, Cheltenham and I am looking forward to this next phase of growth in the business. As the firm grows, I am keen to ensure we maintain our friendly, family business feel.
I enjoy being a member of the local business community and try always to support other local businesses where I can; it's always good to see other local businesses set up and thrive.
These last 6 years have been demanding and inspiring, stretching and absorbing in equal measure. I have lots of plans for the next 6 years and look forward to the journey.
